Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah stated on Friday that discussions should be held with the government regarding journalists’ opinions concerning the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
Expressing his views on the Samaa TV program “Mere Sawal With Absar Alam,” Sanaullah said: “I align with journalists’ organizations regarding the misuse of the PECA Act. However, if any journalist has committed an error, the case should be registered according to the law.”
“The arrested journalists appeared before the courts due to the PECA Act,” Sanaullah said.
He stated: “Journalists’ organizations have staged protests against the PECA Act.”
Speaking about Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif, Sanaullah said: “Nawaz Sharif will play an active role for the country’s betterment.”
Sanaullah said: “Nawaz Sharif will be mobilized on matters concerning Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after Eid Al-Fitr.”
Taking a jab at the PTI, Sanaullah said: “If the PTI takes any action against the country’s interests, then the PTI will be held responsible.”
He said: “It is true that the United States is a significant power, but there are other veto powers as well.”
“PTI founder Imran Khan utilized the Pakistani people’s narrative regarding the US,” Sanaullah stated.
He said, “During the Pakistan Democratic Movement-led tenure, the Chinese authorities also desired to be brought on board.”
“The Prime Minister himself prioritizes the security of Chinese citizens,” Sanaullah said.
