Following Crystal Palace’s FA Cup win, their first major trophy in over a century, Prince William, who was present at the match, shared his thoughts.
The team’s manager, Olivier Glasner, recounted his meeting with the royal prince after Crystal Palace’s thrilling victory over Manchester City. Speaking at a press conference, Glasner noted, “You know he’s an Aston Villa fan.”
His remarks, delivered with a smile, alluded to Aston Villa’s recent defeat by Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-final.
The Austrian coach also stated that Prince William “congratulated all of us for our performances.”
William is well-known for his deep interest in football and has attended numerous high-profile matches, including many games involving Aston Villa, his favored team.
The 42-year-old also recently took his son, Prince George, to the Champions League Quarter Final Second Leg match in Birmingham, England, on April 15th.
Previously, William had explained his strong connection to Aston Villa. In a 2015 interview with the BBC, he shared, “A long time ago at school, I got into football, big time. I was looking around for a club to support, and all my friends at school were either Manchester United fans or Chelsea fans,” but he ultimately chose to support Aston Villa.
