Prince William and Kate Middleton appear to be preparing Princess Charlotte for her future in the royal family, following a recent milestone event that offered a glimpse into her potential path.
During a visit to the Swiss Valley Community Primary School in Llanelli on Tuesday, Prince William shared a rare insight into his daughter Charlotte’s passions, which may influence her future role, particularly when he becomes king.
Speaking with Ruby Davies, a pupil who won the individual reciting competition for Welsh learners, William revealed, “Charlotte loves her performing and dancing as well. So, I am going to show her your video when I get home.”
Ruby presented the Prince with a book of postcards written by the students and friendship bracelets for his children. William responded warmly, saying, “That’s so sweet. Did you put them together yourself? They’re going to wear those; you’ll see them out and about,” and humorously added, “I’ll keep them away from Louis because he’ll try and steal all his sister’s bits.”
At nine years old, Charlotte, the only daughter of the Prince and Princess of Wales, is known for her poise and often looks after her brothers, Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, 6.
While Charlotte is poised to be a senior member of the royal family, she is not expected to be a full-time royal, as previously revealed by Richard Eden, the Daily Mail’s royal correspondent.
“From what I hear, the Prince and Princess of Wales want Charlotte to grow up with the expectation that she will get a job and not be a full-time royal,” Eden said, suggesting she may have a more independent future.
He added, “Personally, I would prefer to see a larger Royal Family carrying out more official engagements. If Charlotte is to get a job and not be an active member of ‘The Firm,’ she needs to be ready to step in if needed.”
