Born on October 12, 1971, Prince Rahim is the eldest son of Aga Khan IV and his first wife, Princess Salimah (formerly Sarah Croker Poole, a British model). His parents had two sons and a daughter.

Prince Rahim has played a significant role in the Aga Khan Development Network, serving as the Chairman of its Environment and Climate Committee. He has also been deeply involved in the Institute of Ismaili Studies and the social governance institutions of the Ismaili community.
