Prince Harry has expressed his genuine hope of reconciling with his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, following the release of his tell-all memoir Spare in January 2023.
However, according to a recent report, Harry received no response from his family. In a candid interview, Harry reiterated his love for his father and brother but lamented the lack of any effort from the royal family to mend relations.
His memoir, which made global headlines with explosive revelations about the British monarchy, became a record-breaking bestseller, selling over six million copies worldwide and earning a Guinness World Record for the fastest-selling nonfiction book of all time.
Despite the success, the memoir deepened rifts within the royal family. A source close to Harry shared that he confided his sadness to a guest at an event last year, expressing disappointment over the absence of communication from his family.
“That’s what made me so sad,” the source quoted Harry as saying, adding, “His hope seemed very genuine.”
Prince Harry has often drawn parallels between his late mother, Princess Diana, and his wife, Meghan Markle, voicing concerns about “history repeating itself.” These fears and other grievances were major themes of Spare.
Harry made a brief visit to the UK in February 2023, reportedly during a period when King Charles was battling cancer. This marked their first formal interaction since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022.
The strained relations between Harry and the royal family continue to be a topic of public interest as the Duke advocates for reconciliation while standing by his and Meghan’s decision to step back from royal duties.
