Prince Andrew’s unexpected appearance at the Royal family’s Easter service has reignited speculation about his potential return to public life.
However, Prince William has taken a firm stance against the “disgraced” Duke of York resuming public duties.
Andrew, the Duke of York, joined King Charles, Queen Camilla, and other senior royals at St. George’s Chapel, prompting questions about the dynamics behind the scenes.
Sharing his perspective on the matter, royal expert Phil Dampier suggested that the outing appeared to be a display of family unity but also emphasized William’s strong opposition to Andrew returning to royal responsibilities.
“It was very much a show of family unity,” Dampier told The Sun. “He’s (Andrew) not completely out in the cold, but I think it’s too early to interpret this as any form of comeback for him.”
“It is absolutely accurate to say that William is a key driving force in ensuring that there is no future role for the Duke of York.
“He does not believe Andrew can make a return to public life, and I am told there is a significant amount of friction between them.
“I think it made things considerably easier for Andrew that William was not present.”
