On Sunday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif affirmed that Pakistan will persist in providing political, diplomatic, and moral assistance to the populace of Jammu and Kashmir, who are engaged in a fight for their freedom and right to self-determination. In a statement marking Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, commemorated on July 13, he noted, “This day is observed annually to honor the 22 Kashmiris who laid down their lives on July 13, 1931, during demonstrations against the Dogra forces of Jammu and Kashmir.”
“It functions as a reminder of the innate perseverance, opposition to oppressive forces, and firm determination of Kashmiri Muslims. The fight for liberty, human rights, and Kashmiri rights has been ongoing throughout Kashmir’s historical timeline,” the premier conveyed.
“The Kashmiri populace has consistently offered, and continues to offer, sacrifices in their rightful pursuit of the right to self-determination.”
“The government of Pakistan extends its political, diplomatic, and moral backing in solidarity with the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir, currently under illegal occupation by India.”
“We commend the courage and resolve of all Kashmiri martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice during the decades of Indian occupation.”
He concluded, “Today, the Government of Pakistan reiterates its dedication to resolving the Kashmir matter and ensuring the right of self-determination for Jammu and Kashmir as stipulated by United Nations resolutions.”
