On Sunday, Prime Minister Sharif extended his warm greetings on the auspicious occasion of Eid ul Adha through phone calls to various world leaders, including Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
During his telephonic conversation with President Erdogan, PM Shehbaz conveyed heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the Turkish leader and the brotherly people of Turkiye. Both leaders concurred on expediting the implementation of key decisions made during their recent meetings earlier this year. The premier stated that this would facilitate accelerated bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade and investment. Recalling their recent meetings in Istanbul and Lachin, the premier thanked President Erdogan for Turkiye’s strong and unwavering support to Pakistan during the recent Pakistan-India standoff. He remarked that this gesture had won the hearts of the Pakistani people and added another glorious chapter to the history of Pakistan-Turkiye brotherhood. Both leaders reaffirmed their steadfast support for each other’s core interests. They also discussed recent regional and global developments, including the situation in Gaza. In response, President Erdogan thanked PM Shehbaz for his Eid well wishes and reciprocated these sentiments for the people of Pakistan. He also reiterated Turkiye’s resolute support for Pakistan on all significant issues.
Pakistan and Kazakhstan Vow to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation
Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz made a telephone call to Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, conveying Eid greetings to him and his countrymen. During their telephonic contact, the two leaders expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum in bilateral ties. They also reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation between the two countries to its full potential. They reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and exchanged views on upcoming engagements. The recent Pakistan-India crisis was also discussed, with the Prime Minister briefing the Kazakh President on Pakistan’s efforts to maintain peace and security in the region. PM Shehbaz expressed his anticipation for the Kazakh President’s visit to Pakistan later this year, during which several important agreements and MoUs are expected to be signed between both sides. On the occasion, the Kazakh president thanked PM Shehbaz for the Eid telephone call and extended warm wishes for the people of Pakistan. He confirmed his visit to Pakistan by the end of the year.
Prime Minister Stresses Strengthening Ties with Oman
PM Shehbaz also conveyed his warm Eid greetings to Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. The premier underscored the necessity of further strengthening bilateral cooperation with Oman across all spheres. During their conversation, the two leaders offered prayers for unity and harmony among the Muslim Ummah, especially for the people of Gaza. The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Sultan for Oman’s stance during the recent Pakistan-India crisis and appreciated its support for de-escalation and dialogue. PM Shehbaz reiterated his most warm and cordial invitation to the Sultan to undertake an official visit to Pakistan. The Sultan graciously accepted the invitation and, in turn, invited the Prime Minister to undertake an official visit to Oman.
