Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday for a one-day official visit, where he was welcomed by Abu Dhabi’s Deputy Ruler and National Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan at Al Bateen Airport.
The premier’s delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Asim Munir, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Special Assistant to the PM (SAPM) Tariq Fatemi.
A press release from the Foreign Office (FO) stated that the visit underscores the profound fraternal ties between Pakistan and the UAE, which are characterized by mutual trust, shared values, and robust cooperation across diverse sectors.
During his visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with the UAE leadership, including a bilateral meeting with the President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
These high-level interactions will cover a wide array of bilateral, regional, and global issues of mutual interest and concern.
According to the FO, the prime minister’s visit aims to further strengthen the enduring brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE, deepen economic ties, and foster multifaceted collaboration. It also signifies the shared commitment of both nations to reinforce their mutually beneficial strategic partnership, enhance cooperation in existing areas of mutual interest, and explore new avenues for further strengthening their cordial bilateral relations.
Earlier this year, the UAE President visited Pakistan, landing in Rahim Yar Khan in January. During that meeting, the UAE ruler and Prime Minister Shehbaz reiterated their shared commitment to deepening economic, political, and cultural bonds. They engaged in discussions on a broad spectrum of issues, including economic collaboration, regional stability, climate change, and the promotion of mutual interests on the global stage.
Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the UAE’s strong interest in collaborating with Pakistan in the mining, minerals, and agriculture sectors. The prime minister expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Mohamed for the UAE’s steadfast support during challenging periods, particularly in humanitarian assistance and development aid. Both leaders reaffirmed their dedication to promoting peace and progress in the region, pledging to work closely on matters of shared concern. The meeting concluded with a joint resolution to foster greater cooperation, especially in priority sectors, to ensure a more prosperous future for both nations.
