Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday briefed United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Pakistan’s position regarding the Pahalgam attack.
According to details, Rubio held a telephonic conversation with the Prime Minister. During this conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz extended his best wishes to United States President Donald Trump. Pakistan reiterated its commitment to collaborate with the United States across all sectors.
Prime Minister Shehbaz clarified that Pakistan condemns all forms of terrorism. “Pakistan has sacrificed over 90,000 innocent lives in the war against terrorism,” Prime Minister Shehbaz added. The Prime Minister expressed his deep disappointment regarding India’s increasingly provocative behavior.
“Pakistan has incurred losses exceeding $152 million in the war against terrorism,” said the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Shehbaz categorically rejected the Indian narrative concerning the Pahalgam attack. The Prime Minister reiterated the demand for a transparent and impartial investigation into the Pahalgam attack.
He emphasized the necessity for the United States to exert pressure on India.
“Pressure should be placed on India to demonstrate responsibility rather than engaging in provocative behavior,” he stated.
“It is regrettable that India has chosen to perpetrate atrocities against Pakistan. Water is a lifeline for 240 million Pakistanis. Only a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir issue can secure sustainable peace in South Asia,” said Prime Minister Shehbaz.
He said: “Pakistan and the United States have collaborated for the past 70 years in bilateral cooperation. Both nations can further enhance cooperation in various sectors.”
