Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephonic conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, during which the two leaders discussed a broad spectrum of bilateral and regional issues, including the successful conclusion of Hajj 2025, the Iran-Israel ceasefire, and recent Pakistan-India tensions.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his congratulations to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the successful management and completion of Hajj 2025, conveying his best wishes to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the people of Saudi Arabia.
He also expressed profound gratitude to the Saudi government for its generous hospitality extended to Pakistani pilgrims participating in this year’s pilgrimage.
During their discussion, PM Shehbaz commended Saudi Arabia’s constructive role in the recent escalation between Pakistan and India, noting that the Kingdom’s efforts contributed to de-escalating regional tensions.
“Pakistan desires meaningful dialogue with India on all outstanding issues,” the Prime Minister stated, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to diplomacy and peace in South Asia.
The two leaders also deliberated on the evolving situation in the Middle East, particularly the recent conflict between Iran and Israel. PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast position favoring a peaceful resolution through dialogue.
“We support adherence to the United Nations Charter and international laws, and urge all sides to resolve conflicts through peaceful means,” the premier affirmed.
During the call, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and lauded Islamabad’s constructive role in supporting peace initiatives during the crisis.
“Saudi Arabia remains committed to fostering lasting peace and prosperity in the Middle East,” the Crown Prince stated.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman also held separate phone calls with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
In MBS’s call with the Iranian president, discussions focused on the ceasefire. Pezeshkian conveyed Iran’s readiness to resolve issues with the US within a global framework, maintaining that “Israel started the war, and Iran ended it,” and that the outcome reflected the “will of the Iranian people.”
During his conversation with Qatar’s emir, the Saudi crown prince strongly condemned Iran’s missile attack on a US base in Qatar, deeming it unjustified and reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s full support for Qatar’s sovereignty.
Earlier, in his conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of restoring peace through dialogue and diplomacy.
According to details, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Iran across all diplomatic forums, including the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
He clarified that Pakistan was closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East, urging all parties to uphold international law and the principles enshrined in the UN Charter.
Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s consistent and principled support during the recent tensions, also acknowledging Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
Both leaders agreed on the significance of unity within the Islamic world during this challenging period and emphasized the need for maintaining regular communication.
Prior to these discussions, PM Shehbaz had reaffirmed his commitment to continued cooperation with China to ensure the success of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong in Islamabad.
PM Shehbaz discussed the ongoing consultations between the two countries concerning his scheduled visit to China in August.
