The outgoing Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Pakistan, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Al-Zaabi, made a farewell call on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House.
During the meeting, which was also attended by Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kiyani, SAPM Tariq Fatemi, and Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, Prime Minister Sharif congratulated the ambassador on the successful conclusion of his tenure in Pakistan. He also thanked the ambassador for his contributions to strengthening the relationship between Pakistan and the UAE.
The Prime Minister praised the leadership of UAE President and Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for fostering closer ties between Pakistan and the UAE, which reflect the deep-rooted and fraternal bonds shared by the two nations. He expressed satisfaction that both sides have taken significant steps in recent months to further these relations, including the visits of UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He also mentioned the recent convening of the Pakistan-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission and the operationalization of the visa abolition agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders.
PM Sharif stated that he looks forward to an official visit by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Pakistan at an early date, which would provide further momentum to the bilateral relationship.
Ambassador Al-Zaabi thanked the Prime Minister for the farewell meeting and expressed his deep appreciation for the support and friendship he had received from the government and people of Pakistan throughout his nine-year stay. Acknowledging the special bonds of friendship between the leadership and the people of both countries, he affirmed that he would continue to work towards strengthening Pakistan-UAE ties in the future.
