President Asif Ali Zardari has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now in isolation, his physician, Dr. Asim Hussain, confirmed on Wednesday.
Speaking to Geo News, Dr. Hussain stated that the president is receiving medical treatment from infectious disease specialists at a private hospital.
“Due to his current health status, all meetings with the president have been strictly prohibited,” he added.
He further mentioned that President Zardari is being closely monitored, and several tests have been conducted to evaluate his health. “The medical team is providing constant, around-the-clock observation to effectively manage his condition,” he added.
President Zardari was moved to a private hospital in Karachi from Nawabshah after experiencing health complications.
Separately, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon dismissed reports concerning Zardari’s health and clarified that his condition is improving.
In a statement, Memon clarified that reports suggesting President Zardari would be transferred to Dubai for medical treatment are incorrect and that he will make a full recovery soon.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inquired about President Zardari’s health through a telephone call.
The Prime Minister prayed for the president’s swift recovery, emphasizing that the entire nation’s prayers are with him.
Additionally, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori contacted President Zardari’s physician, Dr. Asim Hussain, to inquire about the president’s health and extend his well wishes.
