The production of the Ghilaf-e-Kaaba is currently in progress at the Kiswa factory.
This sacred covering, meticulously crafted from high-quality silk, gold, and silver, requires a ten-month period for its completion. A total of 159 skilled workers are engaged in the preparation of the Ghilaf-e-Kaaba.
The materials utilized in the Ghilaf-e-Kaaba are sourced from Italy and Germany.
It is noteworthy that a fresh Kiswah is draped over the Kaaba annually, emphasizing the sanctity of the holy site.
The old Kiswah is subsequently distributed to various charitable organizations worldwide.
Traditionally, the process of replacing the Kiswah took place on the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah. However, in 2022, this ritual was shifted to the first day of Muharram.
The new Kiswah consists of four distinct panels and a curtain specifically designed for the Kaaba’s door. Its creation requires approximately 850 kilograms of raw silk, which is dyed black within the factory complex, along with 120 kilograms of gold wire and 100 kilograms of silver wire.
