Doha: US President Donald Trump has indicated the possibility of deploying a peacekeeping force to Gaza, revealing that Qatar is prepared to contribute to such a mission if necessary. The statement came during a pivotal meeting with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, during a brief stopover in Doha.
The high-level diplomatic discussion took place aboard the presidential aircraft while President Trump was en route to Malaysia for the ASEAN summit. Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, was also present.
President Trump praised Qatar’s diplomatic efforts, stating, “We have achieved incredible peace in the Middle East, and Qatar has played a major role in that.”
Focusing on the fragile situation in Gaza, Trump stressed the need for lasting peace. “A task force will be ready soon, and if needed, Qatar is ready to send a peacekeeping force to Gaza,” he announced.
The President also issued a stern humanitarian demand to Hamas. “Hamas must immediately return the bodies of the hostages,” Trump warned, adding, “Otherwise, the partner countries of the peace agreement will take action.” He further noted that the US will be “closely monitoring the situation for the next 48 hours.”
Separately, regarding his Asia tour, Trump expressed optimism for his upcoming meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping
