Azad Jammu and Kashmir is experiencing significant political uncertainty as the government of Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq faces a major challenge. According to the latest reports, the opposition is expected to formally submit a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister at the Assembly Secretariat this Tuesday.
A key constitutional requirement for this move is that the opposition must also nominate an alternative candidate for the Leader of the House (the new Prime Minister) at the same time the motion is filed.
Sources indicate that the Pakistan People’s Party, a major player in this development, has not yet officially announced its chosen candidate for the position. This decision is being closely watched by all political circles.
Currently, several names are being discussed as potential replacements. According to sources, the most likely candidates being considered for the premiership include Chaudhry Latif Akbar, Chaudhry Yasin, and Sardar Yaqoob.
The next few days are considered crucial for the region’s politics. The opposition faces the dual challenge of gathering enough support to ensure the no-confidence motion is successful while also reaching a consensus on a single candidate to lead the government.
