Political volatility in the country intensified today as Islamabad Police arrived at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) House to execute arrest warrants for key leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. This move follows the issuance of warrants by an Anti-Terrorism Court, underscoring the severe political confrontation currently unfolding in the nation.
The police team was specifically seeking to apprehend PTI leaders Sohail Afridi and Junaid Akbar. However, according to sources inside the KP House, the police team had to depart empty-handed after confirming that neither of the targeted leaders was present on the premises.
Security personnel at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House officially received the arrest warrants from the police. These warrants were issued in connection with a First Information Report (FIR) lodged at Kohsar Police Station against the PTI leaders, relating to an incident that occurred on November 26.
Political analysts suggest that such actions by state institutions are likely to further deepen the divide among political parties. At a time when the country is grappling with major economic and constitutional challenges, the pursuit of political stability appears increasingly complicated. The police are expected to prepare for further action as the execution of the warrants remains pending.
