Elon Musk, the owner of the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), has reacted sharply and unusually to the massive financial penalty imposed on his platform by the European Union (EU), calling for the dissolution of the entire bloc.
In a post on his social media site X following the heavy fine, Musk stated unequivocally: “The European Union should be dissolved and sovereignty returned to the individual countries so that governments can better represent their people.” He quickly clarified the seriousness of his stance, adding that he was “serious about this, not joking.”
Further elaborating on his demand, Musk posted again, saying, “I love Europe, but not the bureaucratic monster that is the European Union.” His comments indicate extreme frustration with the EU’s regulatory structure and processes.
This severe reaction comes after the EU imposed a substantial fine of 120 million Euros (approximately $140 million) on X for allegedly violating the bloc’s digital regulations. Notably, the penalty levied by the European Union has also drawn criticism from Donald Trump’s administration.
