ISLAMABAD: Rana Sanaullah, Advisor to the Prime Minister and a senior leader of the PML-N, has issued a grave political warning, asserting that the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is progressing toward the same political demise faced by the founder of MQM. These sharp remarks came during an intense political discussion with PTI leader Barrister Ali Zafar on Geo News’ Capital Talk.
Sanaullah placed the blame for the negotiation deadlock squarely on PTI. He revealed that the Prime Minister, with his party’s consent, repeatedly offered talks—even proposing a meeting at the Speaker House—but PTI’s senior leadership consistently cited a lack of authority from their founder as the reason for refusal.
Barrister Ali Zafar agreed with Sanaullah, acknowledging a “complete deadlock” between the government and PTI. He stressed that negotiations cannot commence without direct instructions from the incarcerated PTI founder. However, he expressed optimism that a political pathway and solution would eventually be found.
The Advisor leveled a serious accusation against PTI, stating that the party is engaged in confrontation rather than political activity, particularly targeting the Pakistan Armed Forces. He alleged that PTI fails to differentiate between the ‘Establishment’ and the much-revered military. He cited interviews given by PTI leaders to Indian media outlets as evidence of actions that have severely damaged the party politically.
Addressing the dispute over meeting access, Sanaullah maintained that the PTI founder is receiving all necessary facilities and that meetings involving his wife, Bushra Bibi, have not been halted. He reiterated his core assertion that the PTI founder is pursuing confrontation, not politics, and cautioned that this trajectory is leading him toward the same ignominious political fate as the exiled MQM founder.
