In a Montrose-area apartment, a man accused of assaulting his girlfriend eluded capture, bringing an hours-long SWAT operation to a close.
Houston police officers descended on an apartment unit on Stanford Street near Allen Parkway late Thursday afternoon, only to discover it empty, as per reports from the authorities.
The incident began earlier in the day, before noon, when law enforcement received a report of an assault in the vicinity.
Upon their arrival, police encountered resistance from the suspect, who refused to surrender, prompting the deployment of SWAT officers.
Prior to entering the apartment, law enforcement believed the suspect was the only individual present inside.
