Poco has launched the C85, a budget-friendly smartphone that distinguishes itself primarily due to its massive battery capacity, despite featuring entry-level specifications. The device shares many similarities with the recently released Redmi 15C 4G but features Poco’s own distinct branding and a fresh set of color options.
Design and Display:
The Poco C85 is equipped with a large 6.9-inch LCD screen offering a resolution of 720×1600 and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Its display is capable of decent brightness, peaking at up to 810 nits. The phone also includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, an IP64 rating for dust and splash protection, and retains a 3.5mm headphone jack. It measures 171.56 x 79.47 x 7.99 mm, weighs 205g, and is available in black, green, and purple finishes.
Performance and Software:
The C85 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G81-Ultra chipset. It is offered in two configurations: one with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and a higher-tier version with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. While Poco has not confirmed the exact software, it is anticipated to run MIUI for Poco layered over a recent version of Android.
Cameras:
For photography, the rear features a 50MP main camera, suitable for everyday shooting, accompanied by a secondary QVGA sensor with minimal added utility. The front-facing camera for selfies is 8MP. Both the front and rear cameras are capable of recording videos at a maximum resolution of 1080p at 30 frames per second.
Battery and Pricing:
The most significant feature of the Poco C85 is its substantial 6,000 mAh battery, which is supported by 33W fast charging. Although official pricing and market availability have not yet been announced, the phone is projected to have an accessible price point of around $95, making it an attractive option for consumers seeking extended battery life on a budget.
