PML-N Senator Talal Chaudhry has pledged to take legal action against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur following a violent clash between PTI supporters and Islamabad police at a rally on Sunday night. The incident occurred at Chungi No 26 on the outskirts of the capital, where PTI supporters reportedly clashed with police after deviating from approved rally routes.
The confrontation escalated as PTI supporters allegedly pelted police with stones, prompting a police response with baton charges and tear gas. Several protesters were arrested and taken to various police stations.
In a televised address, Chaudhry criticized Gandapur for allegedly orchestrating the attack and vowed to hold accountable those involved, including Gandapur himself. He denounced the incident as a deliberate attempt to obscure a poorly executed rally.
Chaudhry also warned that such actions would have repercussions, including potential legal consequences for Gandapur. He emphasized that the PML-N would not tolerate political incitement and was prepared to implement strict measures to address it.
Ahead of the rally, the Islamabad administration had enforced heavy security and roadblocks to manage the event. Chaudhry accused the PTI of failing to adhere to agreements and criticized their focus on Imran Khan instead of addressing pressing public issues like rising living costs and power bills.
In addition, Chaudhry called for the return of alleged embezzled funds from KP projects, including the Peshawar metro and Billion Tree Tsunami, accusing the PTI of using public money for political rallies.
Meanwhile, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari condemned Gandapur’s speech at the rally, alleging it contained offensive language and threats. Bokhari also highlighted security issues in Gandapur’s constituency and criticized the KP government’s performance.
PPP Vice President Sherry Rehman condemned the PTI’s rhetoric and actions, asserting that the party was promoting violence and chaos. She criticized the PTI for not learning from previous incidents and questioned their approach to addressing political grievances.
