Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by a high-level delegation, departed for Doha on Thursday to show Pakistan’s support for Qatar following recent Israeli airstrikes on residential areas in the Qatari capital.
According to the Foreign Office, the premier is joined by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
The visit, described as a gesture of solidarity, reaffirms Pakistan’s unwavering support for Qatar’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
During his stay in Doha, Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to meet with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to convey Pakistan’s sympathies and support to the Qatari leadership and its people.
Qatari PM Calls for a Collective Response
The Israeli strike on Doha, which targeted Hamas officials, killed at least seven people and ignited outrage across the Arab world.
Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani condemned the attack as reckless and warned that it endangered the security of the entire Gulf region.
“There is a response that will happen from the region. This response is currently under consultation and discussion with other partners,” Sheikh Mohammed told reporters. He also accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of dragging the region into “chaos.”
