Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has defended the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), saying that transparency was the top priority in the process. The Prime Minister stated that the privatization process was carried out in the best interest of the nation, with all stakeholders being consulted and informed throughout the process.
The Prime Minister made these remarks while addressing the government team involved in the privatization of PIA. He said that the privatization process was successful and that all stages were completed with professionalism and team work. The Prime Minister also praised the efforts of the government team, saying that they had worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the privatization process.
Sharif added that the government had consulted with various ministries and stakeholders throughout the process, and that all decisions were made in accordance with the law. He also said that the Prime Minister had engaged in detailed discussions with the investors’ delegation before the privatization process began.
The Prime Minister stated that the reference price for the privatization of PIA was set at Rs. 100 billion, but the final bid reached Rs. 135 billion. He said that the concerns of the investors were addressed and that transparency was the top priority throughout the process.
Sharif also said that the government had taken decisions in the broader national interest and that the privatization process had increased the confidence of investors in government policies. He expressed hope that PIA would regain its former glory and achieve new heights.
The Prime Minister also praised the efforts of the government team, saying that they had worked professionally and as a team to ensure the success of the privatization process. He also commended the efforts of the Minister of State for Finance, the Minister of Defense, and the Chairman of the Privatization Commission, Muhammad Ali, for their professionalism and dedication.
