Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the national flag carrier, announced on Sunday the commencement of direct flight operations from Lahore to Baku, Azerbaijan, with services scheduled to begin on April 20th.
According to the airline’s spokesperson, PIA will operate two weekly flights on this route, with departures planned for every Sunday and Wednesday. This initiative aims to strengthen tourism and trade connections between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
In relation to the new route, a special ceremony was held in Karachi to honor travel agents and tour operators. During the event, detailed information regarding the Baku flights was shared with the attendees.
Speaking at the occasion, the PIA spokesperson stated that the airline views Baku as a promising destination and expressed confidence in the route’s commercial success.
“The national airline is determined to make the Baku route commercially viable,” the spokesperson added.
The spokesperson further emphasized that the role of travel agents will be crucial in ensuring the success of this new venture, as they serve as the primary link between the airline and potential passengers.
Highlighting the significance of the initiative, the spokesperson noted that the direct connection between Lahore and Baku is expected to boost bilateral tourism and enhance economic cooperation between the two nations.
