Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, has been assigned to develop the plot for the next James Bond film for Amazon MGM Studios.
Knight is now detailing how this opportunity came about, his vision for Denis Villeneuve’s new James Bond movie, who he thinks will be the next 007, and whether he feels pressure to deliver a good script.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5’s Live Breakfast on Friday, August 1, Knight said, “I’m hoping that being a Bond fan for so many years, that will sort of be imbued into me and I’ll be able to produce something that’s the same but different and better and stronger and bolder.”
When asked about the pressure that comes with the iconic franchise, he said, “I mean the way I look at it, you’ve just gotta do what you do, do it as well as you can, and then what else can you do?”
He was also asked who would take on the coveted role but the writer remained elusive, stating, “Very, very good question and one I can’t give you the answer to.”
Knight also shared that James Bond films had “always been on my bucket list.” He added enthusiastically, “It’s fantastic to be invited to do it. I can’t wait to get started.”
According to various reports, the leading candidates for the role of 007 include Jacob Elordi, Harris Dickinson, and Tom Holland.
