Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi expressed his strong support for the Mohammad Rizwan-led national team ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025.
Speaking at a ceremony at the newly-renovated Karachi stadium, Naqvi praised the workers responsible for the stadium’s transformation, crediting their tireless efforts for the change.
In his speech, Naqvi said, “Today’s special guests are these workers,” adding, “Their dedication made this project a reality.” He acknowledged their hard work, saying, “These people worked day and night to complete this task.”
Emphasizing ongoing work, he remarked, “Much work remains, but once the trophy is over, we will complete the rest.”
Naqvi also noted that the Karachi project was completed before Lahore’s and was of a higher standard.
“The finishing inside is absolutely magnificent,” he said. He credited General Sami for the successful completion of the project, adding, “Thanks to the Higher Power, those who criticized have lost, and we have won.”
The PCB Chairman praised the workers’ unwavering commitment, mentioning, “These workers are the heroes of this project.” He revealed that some workers hadn’t gone home for months, working 15 hours a day to ensure the project’s success. “Once this stadium is completed, it will be even better than Lahore’s,” Naqvi asserted.
Turning his attention to the national team, Naqvi voiced his complete confidence in Rizwan and the squad, saying, “I have full trust in Rizwan and his team. They will continue to deliver results.” He also expressed his full faith in the selection process, stating, “I have full trust in the selection as well. This team will continue to win.”
Naqvi thanked the Sindh government for its support and encouraged Karachi residents to seize the opportunity, saying, “Karachi has the opportunity, enjoy it.”
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s national cricket team captain Mohammad Rizwan, who was also present at the ceremony, expressed his gratitude to the workers. “It brings me great joy to see all of you here,” he said. Rizwan praised the renovations, noting that the dressing room in Karachi was even better than the one in Lahore.
He commended the workers for their dedication, adding, “Our nation is hardworking, and when it sets its sights on something, it achieves it.”
Rizwan reassured the crowd, saying, “Our team is working just as hard as you did,” and urged the nation to stay positive despite the challenges.
“In Karachi, we have always secured good results for Pakistan,” he said.
Rizwan encouraged the fans to stay hopeful, saying, “Do not be afraid because of us, stay positive. Our nation is brave, and we must think like the brave.”
