Police stated that the injured and deceased have been moved to the Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) Hospital. The police further attributed this accident to speeding in heavy rain.
Passenger bus accidents are a frequent occurrence on highways across Pakistan, stemming from various factors including driver negligence, excessive speeding, and adverse road and weather conditions.
Just last week, a devastating collision between a passenger coach and a car in Hasilpur, Bahawalpur district, resulted in the deaths of five family members and injuries to three others. Officials reported that three individuals died instantly, while two others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Initial findings also pointed to speeding as the cause of this accident.
Prior to that, on July 5, at least six people were killed and 18 others injured when a passenger bus collided with a trailer in Muzaffargarh’s Langar Sarai area. The passenger bus was en route from Lahore to Ali Pur when it collided with the trailer, leading to the six fatalities.
