President Asif Ali Zardari has called on the international community to stop ignoring the ongoing Indian “atrocities” against the Kashmiri people, stating that India’s illegal occupation continues to “snatch” their fundamental rights.
His message was delivered on Jammu Martyrs’ Day, commemorating what he described as “the worst massacre in the subcontinent’s history” on November 6, 1947. He stated that on that day, over 200,000 Muslims were martyred in Jammu by Dogra forces, the RSS, and other armed groups.
Highlighting the tragic human cost, President Zardari noted that this massacre, “one of the darkest chapters in modern history,” forced more than half a million Muslims to flee their homes to survive.
He expressed regret that the global community has failed to give the “genocide” of Kashmiri Muslims the attention it deserved. “The sacrifices of the Kashmiri people,” he said, “are a reminder of the incomplete story of Jammu and Kashmir.”
Connecting the past to present-day actions, the President called the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A part of a “dangerous plan” for demographic change and a clear violation of the Geneva Convention.
Concluding his message, President Zardari paid tribute to the martyrs of Jammu and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to providing continued moral, political, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people. “We stand with them in their struggle for justice, dignity, and freedom,” he affirmed.
