Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, has returned to the field after a difficult period of injury. He began light training at Punjab Stadium on Wednesday, signaling his determination to compete again.
Nadeem has set a clear target: to be fully fit for the upcoming Islamic Solidarity Games, scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia from November 7-21.
Speaking about his recovery, Nadeem confirmed he suffered an injury during the World Athletics Championship in Japan. This setback came in September, just months after he underwent calf surgery in England in July.
“I have worked very hard to overcome the injury and I am feeling better,” Nadeem said. “My next event is the Islamic Solidarity Games, and I need to be completely fit for it. My focus right now is on recovery and training.”
He also mentioned that he is undergoing physiotherapy to prevent any re-injury. Reflecting on his resilience, he added, “Even with the injury, I managed an 85-meter throw at the World Athletics Championship, which is not a small throw.” He concluded by asking the nation to “pray that God brings honor to Pakistan again.”
