Pakistani squash player Noor Zaman has made a triumphant start to his campaign at the Toronto Open Squash tournament in Canada, securing a victory in his opening-round match.
In a challenging first-round encounter on Sunday, Zaman defeated Egypt’s Abd-Elrahman El-Nser in a 3-1 battle.
The Pakistani player showed strong form, taking the first set 11-6. Although his Egyptian opponent leveled the match by winning the second set 5-11, Zaman held his nerve and regained control, closing out the match by winning the next two sets 11-8 and 11-4.
With this impressive win, Noor Zaman has successfully booked his spot in the pre-quarterfinal round of the tournament.
In other news for Pakistan, fellow player Ashab Irfan received a bye in the first round, granting him direct entry into the next stage. This event is part of the PSA World Tour and has a total prize fund of $41,250.
