In a shocking turn of events, Qaiser Abbas, a former official implicated in the Kohistan-Malhi scandal, has filed a plea bargain request with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). According to NAB sources, Abbas has submitted a request to the accountability court through the jail superintendent, seeking a plea bargain. The scandal, which involves a massive 140 billion rupees corruption case, has sent shockwaves across the country.
Abbas, who was a head clerk in the environment department, has filed a plea bargain request for 40 billion rupees. However, the police have alleged that Abbas and his wife have amassed assets worth over 100 billion rupees, including luxury cars, bungalows, plazas, and gold. The police have arrested Abbas and several others, while a massive search operation is underway to apprehend more suspects.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed federal ministers to prioritize resolving issues faced by exporters to boost the country’s exports. Sindh government spokesperson Saadia Javed has said that MQM-Pakistan leader Farooq Sattar cannot mislead the public further using his scripted speech.
In a separate development, a case has been registered against PTI leaders Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi for violating the Public Property Act, 1975. The court has sentenced them to 17 years in prison and imposed a fine of 1 crore rupees on them.
