Pakistan’s batting line collapsed under the spin mastery of the West Indies, leaving the hosts in a difficult position on day two of the final Test at Multan Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
Details indicate that the Green Shirts are facing a challenging task, needing 254 runs to win the series.
West Indies’ bowlers made an incisive start, reducing Pakistan to 5/2 within the first three overs. Openers Shan Masood and Mohammad Hurraira offered little resistance, both falling for two runs, dismissed by the guile of Kevin Sinclair and Gudakesh Motie.
Babar Azam and Kamran Ghulam attempted to stabilize the innings, building a 43-run partnership for the third wicket.
However, Sinclair returned to strike again, removing Azam for 39, leaving Pakistan struggling at 76/4, still requiring 178 runs for victory.
Earlier, Pakistan’s spinners excelled, bowling out West Indies for 244 in their second innings. Despite a resilient 52 from Kraigg Brathwaite and other middle-order contributions, the visitors were unable to build momentum against Pakistan’s disciplined attack.
Noman Ali played a key role, removing Mikyle Louis for seven runs before dismissing Brathwaite.
This left the West Indies at 92/2 and set the stage for a competitive match. Sajid Khan, in partnership with Noman, dismantled the middle order, claiming key wickets, including that of Amir Jangoo, who scored 30 runs.
Tevin Imlach and Kevin Sinclair formed a crucial 51-run partnership for the eighth wicket, but their efforts were curtailed by Sajid and Kashif Khan.
Gudakesh Motie and Jomel Warrican extended the innings with a 27-run stand before Pakistan bowled West Indies out for 244 in 66.1 overs.
Noman and Sajid claimed four wickets each, with Kashif and Abrar Ahmed adding one each, sealing the West Indies’ fate. Pakistan ended the day on the back foot as the West Indies capitalized on early breakthroughs.
