Prominent Pakistani YouTuber Rajab Butt is once again at the center of a controversy. This time, he is entangled in further legal complications: a lawsuit has been initiated against him under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and Section 295-A of the Pakistan Penal Code, concerning blasphemy.
The legal action was taken at the Nishtar Colony Police Station, following the dispute that arose from the release of his perfume, named ‘295’.
The perfume, carrying the title of the blasphemy law section 295, has triggered widespread indignation and intense debates. Critics assert that Butt’s choice of the name, coupled with the product’s association with the late Indian singer Sidhu MooseWala—who also encountered similar legal difficulties—constituted a deliberate act of provocation.
Ramzan Bhatti filed the formal complaint, accusing Butt of intentionally instigating controversy with the ‘295’ name, which many perceived as an affront to the blasphemy laws. The strong reactions from various communities have significantly amplified the ongoing controversy.
