Pakistani Women’s Wing of the Peoples Party in France observed the 18th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto with great enthusiasm and reverence. The ceremony was attended by a large number of women, including local female politicians, senior party leaders, workers, intellectuals, and prominent women from various social circles. The program commenced with the recitation of the Quran and naat-e-rasool, followed by the recitation of three verses of the Quran and 72 verses of Surah Yasin in memory of Benazir Bhutto.
Special prayers were offered for the forgiveness of the souls of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Begum Nusrat Bhutto, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto, and Shah Nawaz Bhutto. Party workers, including Farhat Ashiq, Farrah Karam, Sadia, Raabia, Mobashra, Zarina, Sadia Waseef, Nasira Khan, Starr Shakil, and Ayesha Shahzad, lit candles and expressed their love and admiration for Benazir Bhutto by presenting flowers and bouquets.
Senior party members, Nasira Khan, Neenam Khan, and General Secretary of the PPP Women Wing, France, Sarah Khan, paid tribute to Benazir Bhutto’s invaluable services. Later, Roohi Bano, the president of the Pakistani Women’s Wing in France, said that December 27 is a black day in the history of Pakistan, which has left the nation in mourning.
Today, we are commemorating the 18th death anniversary of the daughter of the East, the first elected Prime Minister of the world, and a great example of sacrifice, Benazir Bhutto. She was not just a political leader but an idea, a hope, and a promise. She lit the flame of democracy in the darkness of tyranny, tolerated hardships, and endured exile, but never compromised on her principles or her people.
Roohi Bano said that Benazir Bhutto taught us a valuable lesson that nations live on sacrifices and democracy grows through struggle. She prayed for the soul of Benazir Bhutto and asked Allah to grant her a high status in Jannah and provide us with the opportunity to fulfill her dreams and build a Pakistan of her vision.
