A Pakistani woman, identified as Nazeer, has been rescued from an Iranian kidnapper after an 18-month ordeal. The woman had accused a Pakistani man of forcibly marrying her in Iran, where she was taken illegally two and a half years ago. The woman’s family had approached the Governor of Sindh with a video appeal, seeking help to free her from the alleged abductor. Governor Kamran Tessori had informed the family of the woman’s rescue and had contacted the Iranian Ambassador and the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to facilitate her return. The Governor had instructed the Pakistani Ambassador to arrange for the woman’s transportation back to Pakistan by air, with her family bearing the cost of her travel. The woman’s brother stated that he had received a phone call in August 2023 from an Iranian number, claiming that his sister had gotten married. However, no further contact was made after that call, and an FIR was registered on September 18, 2023, regarding her disappearance.
In other news, discussions are underway to include Turkey in the Pakistan-Saudi Defense Alliance, with a possible agreement in the works.
