According to an official statement, the UK has offered a grant of $400,000 to upgrade the Geological Survey of Pakistan’s capacity. In this regard, Malik emphasized that this cooperation would lead to significant progress in Pakistan’s mineral sector, while Mallett stated that there are immense investment opportunities in Pakistan.
The British High Commissioner extended an invitation to UK companies to invest in Pakistan’s off-shore oil and gas exploration, while the Pakistani side assured the UK of a conducive business environment. Meanwhile, several incidents took place in the country, including a major oil tanker fire that left eight people injured and 86 missing. The rescue efforts are still underway.
