Pakistani filmmaker and actor Musaddiq Malik has issued a clarification on his contentious statement that sparked a backlash on social media. Malik, who started his career as an assistant director at Sigma Productions, has been a part of several successful productions by Huma Yunus. He has also acted in the blockbuster drama “Meray Paas Tum Ho” and directed notable projects like “Alf,” “Noor Jehan,” and “Main Mantu Nahin Hoon.” As a director, Malik has helmed “Habs,” “Noor Jehan,” and the popular drama “Meri Zindagi Hai Tu.”
Malik recently made headlines when he expressed his views on social media comments, suggesting that social media platforms should ban the comments section entirely and that people should either watch TV content or ignore it. He stated that there should be no room for expression. The statement sparked a strong reaction from social media users, with many expressing their discontent and some fans disagreeing with his views. In response, Malik issued a clarification on Instagram, stating that his statement was taken out of context.
Malik explained that a short clip was misinterpreted, and the conversation was not about the drama “Meray Paas Tum Ho” or YouTube views but about online bullying and hate comments. He emphasized that constant criticism and hate comments on social media can have a severe impact on mental health and even lead to serious consequences, particularly for public figures like models, actors, and celebrities who are constantly targeted.
Malik appealed to the public to watch the entire conversation before forming an opinion, highlighting the importance of understanding the context and words. However, the social media backlash continues, with some users agreeing with Malik’s views, while others accuse him of using controversy to gain attention.
