Pakistani actor Bilal Qureshi has openly revealed a persistent struggle with television channels regarding timely remuneration for his work, a recurring issue that frequently escalates into disputes. During a recent podcast appearance, where he discussed various aspects of his career and personal life, Qureshi disclosed a pattern of conflict with every channel he collaborates with, often resulting in him not being cast in subsequent projects.
Qureshi emphasized his unwavering dedication to his craft, stating, “When I undertake a project, I give my 100%, working with complete honesty. Everyone on set can attest to this.” However, he expressed profound frustration over the disparity between his commitment and the channels’ payment practices. “When it comes to payments, those same people who initially treated us like family, making calls and sending messages, simply stop answering our calls once the drama concludes,” he lamented.
The actor questioned why artists are compelled to vocalize their financial difficulties or “beg” for their earned income. He characterized the delayed payment culture as “highly unethical,” a practice that triggers intense anger in him and invariably leads to arguments when he expresses his frustration.
Qureshi further highlighted that numerous other artists in the Pakistani entertainment industry face similar predicaments but refrain from speaking out due to fear of being blacklisted. He, however, declared his resolve to challenge this norm, stating, “I am not afraid of such repercussions.” He also challenged the expectation from channels that artists should politely request their rightful earnings, questioning the logic behind such a demand.
