The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly made the decision to remove Muhammad Wasim from his position as the head coach of the national women’s cricket team and will not be offering him a new contract.
According to sources, this decision was based on the team’s consistently disappointing performance and a complete failure to produce results. Wasim, who was appointed to the role in 2024, reportedly failed to improve the team’s standing despite receiving full support from the board.
Under his leadership, the team experienced a continuous decline. This was most evident during the Women’s World Cup, where the team delivered a “zero” performance, failing to win a single match despite prior claims.
The issues were not limited to poor results. Sources revealed that complaints also emerged from the players, who alleged that the head coach was not actively involved in coaching. Furthermore, Wasim’s attitude was described as “arrogant” or “rough,” which led to strained relationships not only with the players but also with the batting and bowling coaches.
Ironically, while Wasim was a batsman himself, the team’s batting became its weakest link during his tenure. He was given full authority in team selection and the appointment of support staff, but despite these privileges, the results remained “zero.” The team’s fielding and bowling standards also deteriorated.
