Pakistan women displayed a superb performance in a low-scoring contest, defeating West Indies by 65 runs to register their third consecutive win at the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Monday.
The Pakistan women’s team set a target of 192 runs for the West Indies, anchored by a crucial innings of 54 runs from Sidra Amin. Opening batter Muneeba Ali contributed 33 runs off 60 balls, followed by Sidra Nawaz with 23 and Aliya Riaz with 20.
For West Indies, Hayley Matthews, Karishma Ramharack, and Afy Fletcher each dismissed three Pakistani batters, while Ashmini Munisar and Aaliyah Alleyne took one wicket apiece.
However, the West Indies batters struggled to perform well with the bat, concluding their innings at just 126 runs. Their top scorers were Aaliyah Alleyne and Shabika Gajnabi, who managed to score 22 and 21 runs, respectively.
Skipper Sana played a pivotal role in dismantling the guests’ batting lineup, claiming three wickets alongside the other bowlers. From Pakistan, Rameen Shamim and Nashra Sandhu each took two wickets, while Sadia Iqbal dismissed one batter.
Amin was awarded the Player of the Match title for her significant contribution to the convincing victory.
This win has significantly increased the chances of the Green Shirts’ participation in the mega event.
Prior to this victory, Pakistan had also defeated Ireland and Scotland in their previous matches of the qualifiers.
