There has been significant progress on the long-standing issue of resuming direct flights from Pakistan to the United States.
According to sources, a team from the US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan in January to conduct another crucial audit. In preparation for this high-stakes visit, Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has directed the heads of all its departments to ensure they are fully prepared.
The US federal team will review the standards of the Pakistan CAA, as well as the aircraft maintenance and flight safety procedures of Pakistani airlines. The audit will also specifically include a complete inspection of the aircraft that are intended to be used for the direct Pakistan-US routes.
This visit follows a previous audit conducted by the US aviation authority team back in September.
Sources indicate that a successful outcome of this upcoming January audit will likely clear the path for the restoration of direct flights for Pakistani airlines to the United States.
