In a shocking revelation, the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in Balochistan, Agha Siraj Durrani, has revealed that during the past year, the committee has identified multi-billion rupee transactions involving various government departments. According to Durrani, 22 billion rupees’ worth of notices were sent to these departments, out of which 8 billion rupees have been recovered so far. He further added that 34 accounts were opened by the Deputy Commissioners of the province, which were later closed and the funds were deposited into the national exchequer.
The Public Accounts Committee, Durrani announced, will now also take suo moto notices on public issues. Furthermore, the committee has summoned the authorities responsible for the Quetta Package, related to the breaking of New Subzi Mandi Road in Quetta. Documents suggest that 50 Beretta sniper rifles, 100 sniper rifles, and 1250 new automatic firearms ‘TWS’ will be purchased in Karachi.
