Washington: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has affirmed Pakistan’s readiness to help de-escalate tensions between global powers. He stated that Pakistan is prepared to play a constructive role between China and the US, just as it has in the past.
Speaking at the ‘Future Security Summit,’ the Pakistani ambassador addressed the serious security challenges confronting the region. He strongly highlighted the issue of terrorism originating from Afghanistan, declaring that Pakistan is the country most affected by this menace.
While emphasizing Pakistan’s peaceful intentions, Ambassador Sheikh delivered a firm message: “Pakistan desires peace, however, we cannot leave the security of our people at the mercy of terrorists.”
He also reiterated Pakistan’s position on the Pak-Afghan border, stating, “It is a historical reality that the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan must be treated as an international border.”
