Pakistan Navy has taken a significant step in enhancing its underwater defense capabilities by commissioning its fourth Hangor-class submarine, Ghazi, in Wuhan, China. According to the Pakistan Navy’s Public Relations (ISP) wing, Ghazi is the fourth submarine of the Hangor class, designed and manufactured in China. With the commissioning of Ghazi, the three other Hangor submarines currently under construction in China have entered the sea trials phase.
This is a significant milestone for the Pakistan Navy, as it is part of an eight Hangor-class submarine deal between Pakistan and China. Under the agreement, four submarines will be built in China, while the remaining four will be constructed in the Karachi Shipyard through the transfer of technology. The commissioning ceremony of Ghazi was attended by high-ranking officials from Pakistan and China, who reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defense cooperation between the two countries. The Pakistan Navy’s acquisition of the Hangor-class submarines will enhance its underwater defense capabilities, marking a significant milestone in the country’s naval modernization efforts.
