Pakistan has been invited by the United States to join the newly formed Board of Peace for Gaza, which aims to promote peace and reconstruction efforts in the region. According to a statement by the Foreign Office, Pakistan’s participation in the board is a formal invitation, and the country will play a vital role in international efforts to achieve peace and stability in Gaza.
The Board of Peace, which was announced by US President Donald Trump last week, will comprise prominent international figures, including the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, and the World Bank President, Ajay Banga. The board’s primary objective is to ensure coordination and harmony in security, humanitarian aid, and reconstruction efforts in Gaza, while also promoting reforms within the Palestinian Authority and the government.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister has confirmed that the country has accepted the invitation and will maintain close ties with the international community to achieve a durable peace in Gaza. The Foreign Office statement emphasized that Pakistan will continue to support international efforts to find a permanent solution to the Palestinian issue, in line with UN resolutions.
However, Israel has rejected the formation of the Board of Peace, stating that it is against its government’s policy. In a statement, the Israeli Prime Minister’s office said that Israel was not consulted on the formation of the board and that the Israeli Foreign Minister, Gideon Sar, will discuss the issue with the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio.
