Islamabad, Pakistan – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has stated that the government has suddenly shifted its focus from moving at super speed to searching for a solution to the ongoing issues. Speaking to the media outside the Parliament in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar expressed his concern that the government should notify the opposition leader soon, lest they fall into the trap of being left high and dry.
The Chairman of PTI emphasized that a new year has begun, but Pakistan’s problems remain unchanged. He further added that Sindh government’s last-day behavior was undemocratic, and the provincial government should have been more cautious and mindful of the consequences. Justice Yousaf Ali Saeed also stated that the government should provide a written response to the issues at hand, as they are keen to resolve the matter.
Pervaiz Elahi’s health is reportedly unstable, and doctors have advised him to take a break. The scheduled flight to Lahore from Abu Dhabi has been cancelled, along with two flights from Islamabad to Sukkur. The opposition party has criticized the government for not summoning Sindh Chief Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal for a meeting to discuss the issues of law and order and the recent floods.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has announced a protest, boycott of teaching affairs, and a sit-in at the Bhutto House, demanding a separate Ministry of Higher Education. Former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf expressed his concerns, saying that the government should investigate the circumstances surrounding the recent incidents and the conditions in which they occurred.
The National Assembly has issued a statement, saying that the Prime Minister had advised the government to withdraw the ordinance under Article 89/2 of the Constitution. The statement added that Nepal has sent the notification to the federal government, and the new basic electricity tariff will come into effect from January 1, 2026.
