President States Kashmiri Spirit Remains Unbroken Despite Atrocities
On the 76th anniversary of the historic UN resolution for the right to self-determination in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan reiterated its unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s struggle for freedom.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif marked January 5 as the Right to Self-Determination Day by urging the international community to address ongoing human rights violations and honor its commitments.
President Zardari referenced the 1949 UN resolution promising a free plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir. He condemned India’s refusal to grant this right and its systemic oppression, particularly post-2019. He highlighted the resilience of the Kashmiri people, emphasizing that their fight for freedom cannot be subdued.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed the importance of self-determination under the UN Charter. He condemned India’s illegal actions to alter the demographic and political status of IIOJK, reaffirming Pakistan’s steadfast support for Kashmiris’ cause.
Rallies and seminars were held in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, while posters demanding adherence to the 1949 resolution appeared in IIOJK. The All Parties Hurriyat Conference called for global acknowledgment of Kashmir’s right to self-determination and urged immediate action against India’s oppressive policies.
