He maintained that PTI is not being allowed any political activity, and Article 17 is clear that no political party can be banned if it is not posing a threat to the country’s integrity.
Barrister Zafar further stated that the Parliament had a thorough discussion on this article, and the Election Act was passed afterward. He added that the Election Act requires that a party must be held accountable with substantial evidence if it is deemed to be working against the country’s integrity. He claimed that mere accusations are not sufficient, and the party must present evidence in the Supreme Court or the Constitutional Court.
Barrister Zafar also stated that cases are being filed against our leadership, workers are being harassed, and the government must create an environment conducive to negotiations. He said that if the government does not create this environment, then negotiations cannot proceed. He also stated that only a powerful country can impose its will on others and create a conducive environment for negotiations.
