In high-stakes security talks held in Istanbul, Pakistan has presented its principled demands to the Afghan Taliban government in clear and unambiguous terms. According to security sources, the Pakistani delegation has definitively stated that the continued sponsorship of terrorist groups is no longer acceptable.
The talks are being hosted by Turkish Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalin, who is mediating the discussions amid rising tensions between the two neighboring nations.
Sources report that the Pakistani delegation pressed the Taliban to move beyond verbal assurances and take “concrete and verifiable actions” to eliminate terrorism. Pakistan specifically demanded that the Taliban government effectively control the “strife from extremists (Fitna-e-Khawarij)” and “Indian-backed sedition (Fitna-e-Hindustan).”
However, the Taliban’s response was described by security sources as “illogical and detached from ground realities.” This has led to concerns that the Taliban may be operating on “someone else’s agenda,” which is detrimental to the stability of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the entire region.
